Social media erupted today after a video surfaced showing Ramith Rambukwella, son of MP Keheliya Rambukwella, making an obscene gesture—raising his middle finger—towards media personnel outside the Colombo High Court shortly after receiving indictments.
Rambukwella has been charged with unlawful accumulation of assets, with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) alleging that he failed to account for assets valued at over Rs. 296 million.
The indictments were filed under the Anti-Corruption Act, covering the period from January 1, 2022 to November 14, 2023, during which he served as the private secretary to his father, then a government minister.
