The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers or thundershowers at several places across the island after 1.00 p.m. today.
According to the Department, showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva, Eastern and North Central Provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala and Mullaitivu districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations in these areas.
Mainly fair weather conditions are expected to prevail in other parts of the island.
The public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary, localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions are also expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala and Anuradhapura districts, during the early hours of the morning.
