Sri Lanka Police have uncovered a Jeep registered with forged documents during a special operation carried out by the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau in the Pannala–Alabadagama area.
The vehicle, believed to have been illegally imported and fraudulently registered, was seized and handed over to the Pannala Police Station for further investigation.
Police have recorded statements from the current owner, who reportedly purchased the Jeep from an individual in Matale. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fake registration may have taken place nearly a decade ago.
Authorities said inquiries are underway to trace previous owners and identify those responsible for the original illegal registration.
