Police have seized a large consignment of heroin and methamphetamine (ICE) found in an abandoned parcel near Pooneryn Vidyalaya along the Jaffna–Mannar road.
The discovery was made when a team of police officers on roadblock duty signalled two suspicious motorcycles to stop for inspection. However, both motorcyclists ignored the order and fled the scene, with one rider dropping a parcel before escaping.
Upon inspecting the discarded parcel, police found 14 small packets containing 13 kilograms and 340 grams of heroin and 1 kilogram and 62 grams of ICE.
Police have launched further investigations to identify, track down and arrest the suspects.
