Outgoing Sri Lanka Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo has been promoted to the rank of General in recognition of his distinguished military service, exemplary leadership and longstanding contribution to the nation.
The promotion was approved by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Sri Lanka Army announced.
The elevation marks a significant milestone in General Rodrigo’s military career, placing him among the most senior officers in the history of the Sri Lanka Army.
According to the Army, the promotion acknowledges his exceptional leadership, outstanding service and unwavering dedication to both the Army and the country throughout his career.
The Army further stated that the appointment reflects General Rodrigo’s distinguished record of service, professional excellence and steadfast commitment to maintaining the traditions, discipline and operational standards of the Sri Lanka Army.
