Foundation stones were laid today in Muthurajawela for several projects aimed at expanding Sri Lanka’s fuel storage capacity, under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

According to the President’s Media Division, the projects include the construction of a 21-kilometre pipeline to transport aviation fuel from Muthurajawela to Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

Construction has also commenced on five new aviation fuel storage tanks, with a combined capacity of 90,000 cubic metres.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation said all the development projects will be funded through domestic resources.
