The Registrar of the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), has been remanded until October 6.
The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama after considering facts presented by the Bribery Commission when the case was taken up.
The Registrar was arrested on allegations of aiding and abetting bribery in connection with an incident in which the wife of former Parliamentarian Sarana Gunawardena allegedly offered a bribe in an attempt to reduce her husband’s prison sentence.
