The Colombo High Court today issued an arrest warrant for Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), after he failed to appear before court in a case concerning an allegedly insulting statement directed at Islam.
The warrant was issued when the case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Buddhika C. Ragala.
The case relates to allegations that Gnanasara Thero made a statement considered insulting to the Islamic faith.
When the matter was called today, Gnanasara Thero was absent from court, prompting the High Court to issue an arrest warrant against him.
