The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today ordered that the case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake be recalled on November 11.
The Attorney General’s position on the case is expected to be presented to court on that date.
The case relates to allegations that Rs. 16.6 million in public funds were misused to facilitate a visit to England.
The case was taken up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today.
Senior State Counsel Samadhari Piyasena, appearing for the Attorney General, informed court that investigations into the matter had been completed and the relevant extracts had been forwarded to the Attorney General.
She requested that a date be fixed to inform court of the Attorney General’s position.
After considering the submissions, the Magistrate ordered that the case be recalled on November 11 and directed the State Counsel to inform court of the Attorney General’s position on that date.
