The Colombo High Court today ordered that the case filed against former Minister Rohitha Bogollagama be recalled on October 29.

The case stems from allegations that Bogollagama, during an investment promotion exhibition held in London in 2006 under the auspices of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), induced the BOI Chairman to authorize payments exceeding Rs. 1.5 million for hotel accommodation and exhibition-related expenses in violation of Treasury regulations.

An open warrant had previously been issued against the former Minister after he failed to appear in court on several occasions in connection with the case.

Acting on the warrant, officers attached to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) arrested Bogollagama on October 7.

When he was produced before the High Court on the same day, the presiding judge ordered that he be remanded until the conclusion of the proceedings.
