The Sri Lanka Cricket Bill was presented to Parliament today by Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara.
The proposed legislation seeks to establish Sri Lanka Cricket as the body responsible for the control, governance, regulation, promotion, development and administration of cricket in the country.
The Bill aims to promote the development of cricket based on principles of good governance, integrity, transparency, accountability and inclusivity, while ensuring equal opportunities for all participants.
It also includes provisions aimed at safeguarding the welfare of individuals involved in cricket and protecting the sport from corruption and other forms of improper conduct.
In addition, the proposed legislation sets out provisions relating to the constitution, powers and functions of Sri Lanka Cricket.
