The Cabinet has announced that Parliament will devote two full days to debate the no-confidence motion filed by the Opposition against Education Minister and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
The debate is scheduled to take place on January 22 and 23, with provisions in place to extend the discussion if required.
Cabinet Spokesperson Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, speaking on Tuesday (13), said the government is prepared for a comprehensive debate on the motion.
“January 22 and 23 have already been allocated for this discussion. While two days are currently set aside, we are willing to extend the debate if necessary. Our intention is to ensure a thorough discussion. If the Opposition is determined to pursue this motion against the Prime Minister, it provides us with an opportunity to clearly explain the education reforms to the people of this country,” he said.
