
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya met with representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi during her first official visit to India as Prime Minister.
Discussions centered on deepening bilateral economic cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration in sectors such as energy, agriculture, healthcare, education, fintech, AI-driven business development, skill enhancement, wellness tourism, fertilizer production, and port development.
In her remarks, Prime Minister Amarasuriya reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to building an inclusive, knowledge-based economy through education reform, digital transformation, and workforce development.
She also encouraged Indian businesses to expand their investments in Sri Lanka, particularly in manufacturing, infrastructure, renewable energy, and education technology. The Prime Minister proposed joint initiatives in AI and innovation hubs, vocational training programs, and EdTech-based learning platforms to strengthen long-term economic and technological partnerships between the two nations.
