The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today ordered the release on bail of Sanjaya Samarasinghe, who served as a Coordinating Secretary to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Samarasinghe was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama after being arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) last night.
He was arrested after allegedly failing to disclose the source of Rs. 1.8 million found inside a safe seized from his residence by the Bribery Commission.
The Chief Magistrate ordered his release on two personal sureties of Rs. 1 million each and imposed a travel ban on him.
The case is scheduled to be taken up again on December 10.
