Pope Leo XIV has appointed Rev. Fr. Anton Ranjith Pilleynayagam as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Jaffna, the Vatican announced today.
The appointment comes following the acceptance of the resignation of Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam, who has served as the Bishop of Jaffna.
The Vatican’s announcement marks a new chapter for the Diocese of Jaffna, with Rev. Fr. Anton Ranjith Pilleynayagam set to assume leadership of one of Sri Lanka’s most prominent Catholic dioceses.
