The Department of Land Development has announced that more than 6,000 acres of land have been handed over to District Secretaries to facilitate the reconstruction of homes destroyed by recent disasters.
Land Commissioner General Chandana Ranaweera stated that all identified lands will first be inspected by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO).
He added that construction of new houses will commence only after the completion of safety assessments and official clearance by the NBRO.
