The Sri Lanka Navy has seized over 53 kilograms of heroin from a multi-day fishing vessel intercepted in international waters south of the island.
The operation, carried out last night, led to the arrest of five fishermen who were aboard the vessel at the time.
Navy officials revealed that the narcotics had been carefully concealed inside several sacks on board.
Following the interception, the vessel was escorted to the Galle Harbour earlier today for further inspection and investigation.
