The Police Media Division has dismissed as false a social media report alleging that retired Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Ravi Seneviratne, now serving as Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, told the Parliamentary High Posts Committee that the mastermind behind the Easter Sunday attacks had been identified and that India was responsible.
In an official statement, the Police Media Division categorically rejected these claims, emphasizing that no such remarks were made during the committee session.
Ravi Seneviratne clarified that he appeared before the Parliamentary High Posts Committee on October 8, 2025, to respond to questions raised during the meeting. However, he stated that he never claimed India was involved in the Easter Sunday bombings.
Following this clarification, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been directed to launch an investigation into those responsible for spreading the false report. In addition, Seneviratne has instructed his legal team to pursue legal action against the individuals or entities behind the misinformation.
