A widespread internet outage has disrupted numerous popular websites and apps today, as Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company’s cloud computing division, experiences technical difficulties.
Among the platforms affected are Snapchat, Duolingo, Roblox, Zoom, Fortnite, Canva, Wordle, Signal, Slack, Epic Games, and Pokémon Go. Several banks, including Halifax, Lloyds, and the Bank of Scotland, have also reported service disruptions, according to Downdetector.
Amazon has confirmed that the issue is related to error rates in the DynamoDB APIs within its US-EAST-1 region. The company stated it is pursuing multiple recovery paths to restore normal service as quickly as possible.
