Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced that the proposed education reforms for Grade 6 have been deferred to next year.
He made this statement during today’s Cabinet media briefing, noting that the decision follows formal investigations conducted into the Grade 6 English module by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Ministry of Education, and other relevant authorities.
The Minister further stated that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has held ongoing discussions with education sector officials regarding the issue.
Accordingly, while education reforms for Grade One will proceed as planned, the implementation of reforms for Grade Six will be postponed until next year.
