The Department of Railways has announced that full-scale reconstruction work on the Northern Railway Line will commence today with financial assistance from India.
An estimated USD 5 million from the Indian aid package has been allocated for the rehabilitation project, which aims to restore rail infrastructure severely damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.
As part of the reconstruction process, train services operating between Mahawa and Omanthai will be restricted from January 19, the Department stated.
