A Technical Officer attached to the Welisara Sub-Office of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The arrest follows allegations that the officer accepted a bribe of Rs. 50,000 in return for approving a building plan despite identified shortcomings.
The operation was conducted based on a complaint filed by a resident of Ragama. The suspect is due to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
