The Department of Meteorology has issued a special advisory warning of increased rainfall in several parts of the country beginning January 8.
The advisory, released at 3:30 p.m. today, states that a low-level atmospheric disturbance over the Bay of Bengal, southeast of Sri Lanka, is expected to intensify in the coming days.
As a result, enhanced rainfall is likely to affect the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central Provinces from January 8 onwards, the Department of Meteorology said.
