Former Sathosa Transport Manager Indika Ratnamalala has been remanded until January 9 after being produced before the Wattala Magistrate’s Court.

Ratnamalala was arrested last night by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) while he was staying at a hotel in Galle. He is accused of aiding and abetting the misuse of state property.

The arrest follows the recent detention of Johan Fernando, the son of former Minister Johnston Fernando, who was taken into custody on multiple charges, including misappropriation of state property, obtaining an ethanol license using false information, defrauding the government of tax revenue, and money laundering.

According to police, the FCID investigation stems from an anonymous complaint received in November 2015 regarding a company operating from a premises on Amarasekara Mawatha, Colombo.

Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
