Sri Lanka Customs has recorded a landmark achievement by exceeding its annual revenue targets with several days still remaining in the year, according to Customs Director and Spokesperson Chandana Punchihewa.
Addressing the media, Punchihewa said the government had initially set a revenue target of Rs. 2,115 billion for 2025, which was surpassed by mid-November.
In response to this performance, the target was later revised upward to Rs. 2,231 billion. However, Customs collections continued to rise beyond expectations.
“As of Friday the 26th, total tax revenue has reached Rs. 2,497 billion, exceeding even the revised target,” Punchihewa stated.
With three working days still left, Sri Lanka Customs projects that total revenue collection will climb to around Rs. 2,525 billion, marking a new record in the country’s fiscal history.
