Sampath Manamperi has been ordered to remain in detention until March 26 next year after being produced before Walasmulla Magistrate Malsha Kodithuwakku today.
He is currently in the custody of the Western Province North Crimes Investigation Division, following his arrest in connection with the possession of two containers containing crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice.”
Meanwhile, Piyal Manamperi, who is already in remand custody in relation to the same case, was also produced before court today. The Magistrate ordered that he be further remanded until January 7.
During the hearing, the Western Province North Crimes Investigation Division informed the court that investigations into the incident are ongoing. Police further stated that, based on statements made by Sampath Manamperi, inquiries are underway to arrest several other individuals suspected of being linked to the case, and this information was formally conveyed to the Magistrate.
