President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has directed district authorities to implement urgent measures to prevent loss of life and ensure relief for communities expected to be affected by severe weather conditions over the next two to three days.

The instructions were issued during a special meeting held this morning at the Parliament complex to assess the emerging disaster situation and review ongoing relief operations amid intensifying rainfall across several regions.

President Dissanayake urged Members of Parliament to personally visit their respective districts to evaluate ground conditions and identify immediate community needs. He further instructed officials to promptly convene District Coordination Committees and Regional Development Committees to streamline relief distribution and ensure timely assistance reaches vulnerable families.

Authorities continue to monitor the developing weather system as warnings for heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides remain in effect across multiple districts.
