A teacher from a school in Moratuwa has been remanded after being arrested on charges of sexually abusing a 14-year-old student.
The Moratuwa Magistrate’s Court today (18) ordered the suspect to be remanded until December 1.
Meanwhile, the school’s principal—who was arrested for allegedly attempting to cover up the incident—was released on two sureties of Rs. 100,000 each.
The teacher and the principal, aged 58 and 59, are residents of Baduraliya and Piliyandala, respectively.
Police said several additional complaints have also been lodged against the teacher, and further investigations are underway.
