Sri Lanka Police will deploy sniffer dog units to support drug search operations in schools as part of the country’s nationwide anti-drug initiative.
The operation falls under the “National Mission for a United Nation,” launched under the direction of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, with the goal of eliminating drug abuse across the nation.
According to the Police Media Division, the decision follows increasing reports of narcotics being distributed among schoolchildren, raising serious public concern.
The program will be implemented in schools across the island in the coming weeks, marking a significant step in the government’s broader effort to combat the spread of drugs among youth.
