GovPay, Sri Lanka’s secure digital payment platform for government services, has processed over Rs. 1 billion in transactions, according to the Ministry of Digital Economy.

The platform enables citizens and businesses to make payments for various government services — including taxes, fines, utility bills, education fees, and other charges — through banks and other digital financial channels in a safe and convenient manner.

As of November 3, GovPay has completed 40,969 transactions amounting to Rs. 1,007,997,008, involving 200 government institutions, the Ministry confirmed.

Managed by LankaPay, Sri Lanka’s national payment network, GovPay operates under the supervision of the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). The platform enhances security, transparency, and efficiency in government revenue collection while streamlining digital transactions.

Launched in February 2025, GovPay is a key initiative under the leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Minister of Digital Economy, and is being implemented in multiple phases.
