Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Parliamentarian M.L.A.M. Hisbullah has denied allegations linking him to a $2 million gold scam in Ghana, stating that he had not invested any personal funds in the disputed transaction.

Addressing a press conference, Hisbullah clarified that his role was limited to assisting foreign acquaintances who were engaged in the gold purchase deal, and that he was not financially involved in the investment.

According to recent Ghanaian media reports, eleven individuals have been accused of defrauding a Sri Lankan MP of $2 million in a fake gold deal. The suspects allegedly took the money and later attempted to re-engage the MP by offering another 50 kilograms of gold, supported by a memorandum of understanding.

Following the alleged fraud, Hisbullah and his associates lodged a complaint with Ghana’s National Security Council, claiming that the promised gold had been substituted with a different type of metal.

Ghanaian authorities later arrested 11 suspects, who have since been released on bail pending further investigation.
