Former Executive Director of the State Engineering Corporation, Nilu Dilhara Wijedasa, has been released on bail after being arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

Wijedasa was detained over allegations of misusing state resources and breaching procedural regulations in connection with renovation work at Sirikotha, the headquarters of the United National Party (UNP).

Investigators claim the renovation was carried out without proper authorization, resulting in a financial loss of approximately Rs. 1.667 million to the State Engineering Corporation, while allegedly providing undue benefits to the political party.

CIABOC confirmed that the arrest was made under corruption-related charges as part of an ongoing investigation into the misuse of public assets.
