Sri Lanka Police have seized and frozen assets worth Rs. 730 million so far this year, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organized criminal networks operating across the island, Police Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wootler announced.

The confiscated assets include 354 pounds of gold, 72 vehicles, 35 houses, 37 acres of land, and Rs. 670 million in illicit cash. These assets, believed to have been acquired through illegal means, are being transferred to state custody.

ASP Wootler stated that this year’s operations are part of a long-term national strategy aimed at crippling the financial structures of organized crime.

“Between 2021 and 2024, the Sri Lanka Police initiated legal action to seize assets worth Rs. 39 billion connected to criminal activities. In 2025 alone, we have already recovered Rs. 730 million, and investigations are continuing,” he said.

According to police data, enforcement operations have intensified since January 1, 2025. A total of 5.7 million individuals have been questioned nationwide, leading to the arrest of 4,082 suspects involved in various criminal offenses.

Additionally, police have confiscated 1,996 firearms, including 66 T-56 assault rifles, 69 pistols, and 50 revolvers.
