Former President Maithripala Sirisena appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on Monday (13) to provide a detailed statement concerning an alleged financial fraud.
Sirisena spent nearly five hours at the Commission, responding to questions and recording his statement as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to sources, the inquiry is linked to a financial irregularity that reportedly took place around 15 years ago at an institution affiliated with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
The Bribery Commission continues to probe the incident to determine the extent of the alleged misconduct and identify those responsible.
