A joint raid by the Police Special Task Force (STF) and the Special Unit of the Boossa High-Security Prison has uncovered a large haul of illegal items, including mobile phones, SIM cards, and chargers, believed to be used by notorious underworld and drug trafficking inmates.
During the operation, officers seized 28 smartphones, 30 SIM cards, and 35 chargers from cells belonging to several high-profile prisoners.
The search focused on cells occupied by Vithanage Ruwan Chamara, also known as Midigama Ruwan, Gampola Vidanage Samantha Kumara, alias Wela Sudha, and IDH Sudda—all of whom are suspected to be major players in Sri Lanka’s organized crime network and narcotics operations.
The authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine how the contraband was smuggled into the high-security facility.
