Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya visited Meegahakiula National School in the Badulla District today (December 24) to inspect educational institutions impacted by recent disasters.
According to a statement issued by Minister of Plantations and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyarathna, discussions during the visit focused on the extent of damage caused to the school by Cyclone Ditwah and the measures required for restoration.
The Prime Minister also reviewed plans to resume academic activities at the affected school in the shortest possible time.
The visit was attended by Uva Province Governor Attorney Kapila Jayasekara, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Dinidu Saman Henanayake, the Chief Secretary of the Uva Province, provincial council officials, teachers, students, and residents of the area.
