Two multi-day fishing trawlers carrying a large consignment of narcotics were seized in deep seas off Sri Lanka’s southern coast during a joint operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB).
During inspections, officials uncovered approximately 270 kilograms of Crystal Methamphetamine, commonly known as Ice, along with heroin, concealed inside the vessels.
Further investigations are underway to identify those involved in the smuggling operation and to determine the origin and intended destination of the drugs.
