Uva Province Governor Kapila Jayasekara has extended his gratitude to the Muslim community for their assistance following the tragic bus accident on the Ella–Wellawaya road, which claimed 15 lives.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Muslim religious leaders and community members from Diyatalawa, Bandarawela, Welimada, Bakinigahawela, and Badulla stepped forward to provide free funeral transport services, ensuring the remains of the deceased were taken to Tangalle.
Governor Jayasekara visited the Anwar Jumma Mosque in Badulla on September 12 to personally convey his appreciation. During the visit, he met with Muslim religious leaders and community representatives, acknowledging their compassion and support during a time of great sorrow.
