A landslide in the Aluthnuwara area of Mawanella has claimed three lives, after rescue teams recovered another body buried under the collapsed earth embankment.
Police confirmed that one person remains hospitalized with injuries sustained in the tragedy.
The incident occurred near a residential construction site, where three workers were carrying out building activities when a mass of earth gave way, burying them beneath tons of soil.
Rescue operations, led by local police with the support of area residents, were launched immediately and continue under difficult conditions.
