
NEW YORK – Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath held bilateral discussions with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the United Nations Headquarters.
Talks centered on Sri Lanka’s engagement with the multilateral trading system and potential areas to deepen cooperation with the WTO.
Minister Herath reiterated Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening its role within the global trading framework.
Director-General Okonjo-Iweala highlighted current trends in international trade, outlining both opportunities and challenges for member states. She also briefed the Minister on the WTO’s ongoing reform agenda, designed to better address the needs of developing economies.
