President Dissanayake Embarks on Official Visit to Japan After UN Address

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has begun his official visit to Japan (Sept. 27–30) following his engagements in the United States, including his address at the United Nations General Assembly.

Invited by the Government of Japan, the President is scheduled to meet His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on regional and economic cooperation.

He will also deliver a keynote speech at a Business Forum in Tokyo, engaging with leading Japanese investors on Sri Lanka’s emerging economic opportunities.

As Guest of the Government of Japan, President Dissanayake will participate in “EXPO 2025 Osaka” on Sri Lanka Day, showcasing the nation’s cultural heritage and economic prospects to an international audience.

During the visit, he will also meet with members of the Sri Lankan expatriate community in Japan.

The President is accompanied by Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, along with senior government officials.
