The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is preparing to launch a new political initiative titled “Mahinda Sulangin Namal Suwanda” in the coming weeks, party sources revealed.
This fresh movement follows former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s return to active political engagement after stepping down from his official residence in Colombo. Now based in Tangalle, Rajapaksa has reportedly resumed holding discussions and meetings with party supporters.
According to a senior SLPP spokesperson, the initiative mirrors the earlier “Mahinda Sulanga” campaign, which emerged in the aftermath of Rajapaksa’s previous exit from office. The upcoming launch of “Mahinda Sulangin Namal Suwanda” is seen as a strategic move to reinvigorate the party base and signal the continued political influence of both Mahinda and Namal Rajapaksa.
